Mangalore, July 19: There are chances of the young Mangalorean duo of Sharif Migdad and Ayub Hussain being released from Saudi prison in two months.

Abdul Qader and Akbar, family members of Mr. Migdad and Mr. Hussain from Adyar Kannur near here along with Congress leader Hameed Kannur addressed media persons at the Press Club in Mangalore on Thursday, and informed about the possible release of the prisoners who have been languishing in Jeddah jail for 11 years on charges of routing telephone calls illegally.

Mr. Hameed Kannur told Coastaldigest.com that on October 21, 2011, a delegation consisting of himself, Mohammed Monu, Taluk Panchayat member and M A Gafoor, KPCC member, had visited Delhi and met senior leaders such Oscar Fernandes, MP and E Ahmed, Minister of State (Deputy Minister) for the Ministry of External Affairs, to explain to them the situation and press for a demand for the release of the prisoners.

Owing to their cooperation and the efforts of a Muslim organization in Saudi Arabia, it now appears that the release of the prisoners will probably take place in two months, family members of the prisoners said and thanked the leaders for their efforts.

Similarly, 13 more prisoners hailing from Dakshina Kannada district have been put behind bars in Saudi. The central leaders will also press for their release, Mr. Monu and Mr. Hameed informed.
