Mangalore, September 12: Two separate heavy vehicle accidents on National Highway 48 led to a major traffic jam at Shiradi Ghat on Tuesday night, official sources said.
The traffic chaos started after a speeding truck over turned between Maranahalli and Gundya. Little later a timber-laden truck also over turned on the same spot causing wooden logs to block the road.
Sources from jurisdictional Sakaleshpur police station said that the traffic jam lasted for 4-5 hours.
KSRTC Mangalore division officials said that all buses which started from Bangalore on Tuesday night reached Mangalore on Wednesday three hours late.
The traffic jam was cleared after police intervention.
