A 24-year-old Indian student who was stabbed at a fitness centre in the US state of Indiana on October 29 died of his injuries at a hospital on Wednesday. Varun Raj Pucha, a computer science student at Valparaiso University, was stabbed in the head by Jordan Andrade, 24, police said.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Varun Raj Pucha. Our campus community has lost one of its own, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Varun's family and friends as we mourn this devastating loss," Valparaiso University said in a statement.

The accused has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery. Andrade reportedly told the police that Varun "was going to assassinate" him, according to newly filed charges in the case.

Andrade told the police that Varun and he had never spoken before the attack but the former said that "someone" told him that Varun was "threatening".

"Officers also spoke with Planet Fitness staff who indicated that (the stabbed man) was a regular gym member and generally kept to himself, was quiet and reserved, nothing indicating that he was 'creepy,'" police said.

The Attack

Andrade said he walked into the massage room of the gym and found Varun, whom he did not know, but found "a little weird", the police said. He maintained that he felt threatened by Varun and reacted accordingly, stating in his own words that he "just reacted".

The accused insisted that Varun remained seated during the entire altercation and did not initiate any physical contact. He further alleged that the only physical contact occurred when Varun attempted to push him away after Andrade had already initiated the attack.

Claiming to be a former high school football player capable of bench-pressing 260 pounds, Andrade described Varun as "pretty little".

Andrade maintained that he acted in self-defence, portraying himself as a "defensive fighter" who eliminated a threat with a knife. Upon further inquiry about the details of the attack, Andrade allegedly responded with a vague explanation, "Uh, I just put it through."

When further questioned about the attack's specifics, Andrade reportedly remained tight-lipped, stating, "I don't even want to say it," according to police. "It was in the head."

The 24-year-old acknowledged pulling the knife out of his pocket, a tool he typically uses for opening boxes at his workplace, Menards.

Memorial

A memorial service for Varun will be held on campus on November 16th.

"Our university gives the family and friends of Varun Raj Pucha our deepest condolences. Our thoughts are with his family, and we pray for their healing," said the university.

Varun, from Telangana's Khammam district, was pursuing an MS in computer science. He began his studies in the US in August 2022.

Whether it's years of accumulated belongings or large-scale clutter that has become overwhelming, professional junk removal services can help restore order. Junk removal Queens services specialize in heavy cleanouts, ensuring safe and efficient removal of unwanted items. Unlike standard decluttering, hoarding cleanouts require a sensitive approach. Many people struggle with parting ways with possessions, which is why hiring experienced professionals is the best option. This guide will explore top-rated services, benefits, pricing, and how to choose the best option for hoarding and heavy clutter removal.

Hoarding and Heavy Clutter: Understanding the Challenge

What Defines Hoarding?
Hoarding is more than just a messy home—it’s a serious condition where people struggle to discard items, leading to an overwhelming accumulation of clutter. This can happen gradually or quickly, making a home unsafe over time. Many hoarders don’t recognize the problem, while others feel too emotionally attached to their belongings to let go. Junk removal Queens services offer a structured and professional approach to clearing out excessive clutter, ensuring items are removed in a respectful and systematic way.

The Emotional and Physical Impact of Clutter
Living in a cluttered home isn’t just inconvenient—it can be dangerous. Piles of junk create fire hazards, attract pests, and increase the risk of injuries. Dust, mold, and bacteria can accumulate, causing allergies, respiratory issues, and other health concerns. The more clutter there is, the harder it becomes to clean and maintain a safe living space.

Emotionally, hoarding can lead to feelings of shame, stress, and social isolation. Many hoarders avoid having guests over, which can lead to loneliness. Junk removal Queens services provide a way to clear out unwanted items efficiently, helping individuals regain control of their homes and mental well-being. Jiffy Junk is just a call away to assist with heavy cleanouts and hoarding situations.

Why DIY Decluttering Isn’t Always the Best Option
Trying to tackle extreme clutter alone can be overwhelming. Heavy lifting, large furniture removal, and the emotional attachment to items can make the process exhausting. Hoarded homes often contain hazardous materials, from rotting food to sharp objects, making self-cleaning unsafe.

Many people start decluttering with good intentions but get discouraged when they see the sheer amount of work required. Junk removal Queens companies have the right equipment, training, and manpower to handle even the most severe hoarding situations. Mangaluru: A routine midnight tea run turned into a horrifying tragedy when a motorcycle carrying three young men — in clear violation of traffic rules — slammed into an open divider on National Highway 66 at SKS Junction in the early hours of April 8. Two of them lost their lives, while the third is recovering from injuries.

The victims have been identified as Sankeerth, who was riding the motorcycle (KL-58-Q-6381), and Dhanurved C, the first pillion rider. Sibi Sam, the second pillion rider, was injured but survived the crash.

According to the FIR registered at the Traffic East Police Station (Crime No. 48/2025), the friends had set out from Lohith Nagar around 2:30 am, heading towards Pumpwell for tea. While Rohan Joby and Meghnath rode separately on a different bike (KL-13-AH-2388), Sankeerth was accompanied by two pillion riders — a clear case of triple riding, which is both illegal and dangerous.

As they sped along NH-66, Sankeerth reportedly lost control near SKS Junction and collided with the edge of an open road divider at approximately 2:50 am. The impact threw all three men onto the highway with violent force.

Sankeerth and Dhanurved suffered critical head and facial injuries and died while being rushed to the hospital. Sibi Sam is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The FIR invokes Sections 281, 125(a), 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and 128(a) read with 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which include provisions related to rash driving and traffic violations.

The police have launched a full investigation. The accident has reignited public concern about reckless driving, triple riding, and the hazards posed by poorly maintained road dividers, especially during low-visibility hours.
