Lucknow, Oct 6: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government today told the Supreme Court that Hathras victim was cremated in the middle of the night "to avoid large-scale violence".
The UP government added in its affidavit to the SC that "extraordinary circumstances forced district administration to take the extraordinary step of cremating the victim at night.” It claimed that family members of victim also were present.
"The district administration at Hathras had been receiving several intelligence inputs since the morning of September 29 on the manner in which the dharna had taken place at Safdarjung hospital and the whole issue was being exploited and a caste/communal colour was being given," said UP government.
It said said, "False narrative at the behest of vested interests gaining momentum," and asked the apex court to allow a CBI investigation to ensure that "false narratives do not interfere in the course of the investigation."
UP Govt also told the SC that all four accused -Sandeep, Luvkush(19), Ravi (35) and Ramu (28) have been arrested under Sec 307(attempt to murder), 376D(gangrape) of IPC and Section 3(2)(v) of SC/ST Act and are lodged in Aligarh jail.
The affidavit added that there were no signs suggestive of rape. "The provisional medical report of JJ Medical Hospital Aligarh did not have prima facie findings of rape." The samples were sent to FSL Agra, which gave its final opinion ruling out rape.
