Lucknow, Oct 9: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the attack on North Indians in Gujarat and reiterated that the party will join the grand alliance against the BJP only if the party gets respectable seats.
" We will not beg for seats in the coming Lok Sabha polls and will prefer to contest the elections alone if we do not get respectable seats in the alliance," she said.
However, the BSP president was more critical on PM Modi over the attack on north Indians in Gujarat and comment that those who have supported the PM in Varanasi are being thrashed in his native place.
" It is unfortunate that the PM has not uttered a word on the attack on the North Indians when the people from UP are being thrashed, who had supported the PM and BJP in a big way ," she said.
In a statement here on Tuesday, with paying tribute to the BSP founder late Kashi Ram on his death anniversary, Ms Mayawati apprehended that if Gujarat incident is not controlled then it could spread out in other parts of the country." The BJP government in Gujarat had shown its castist and regionalism attitude which could hamper the social fabric of the country," she said.
The BSP president , clarified her stand on the political issue claiming that her party will also go for alliance if they get respectable seats.
The party had already going alone in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan assembly polls while have joined hands for Congress Janata( Chhattisgarh) in Chhattisgarh assembly polls.
While paying her tribute to her mentor Kashi Ram on her death anniversary, she said that the dream of the BSP founder could be achieved by getting the rights of the poor, dalits and other oppressed class.
" BJP has failed to its expectation and now people want to get rid of it at any cost," she claimed.
