Mangalore, Dec 17: The International Humanists and Ethical Union has urged the State government to probe into cases of rape, murder and unnatural deaths, which had taken place under the Ujire police station limits in Dakshina Kannada district from 1986 to 2012.
Addressing a news conference on Monday Babu Gogineni from London based International Humanist and Ethical Union said that even after 14 months of the brutal rape and murder of a student of SDM Pre-University College, the police have neither submitted a charge sheet to the Child Welfare Committee nor have they nabbed the rapists.
“Justice has been denied to victim and we have decided to make the victim's parents address the entire nation from Delhi soon. All steps will be taken to raise voice for justice and also to take up the matter with international human rights organizations,” said Babu Gogineni adding that Ujire - Dharmasthal has recorded 464 of unnatural deaths over the past ten years and no investigation has taken place so far.
“Even after protesting for justice for innocent minor girl's death, government has failed to handover the inquiry to CBI. The investigation has to be taken up under the surveillance of Supreme Court and it must be a neutral investigation. However, role of influential people in this case is evident by the way the case is being handled,” he said lauding the family of rape and murder case victim of Ujire for courageously fighting for justice.
Prof Narendra Nayak from the Federation of humanists Organisation said that there are several religious places in the district but so many unnatural deaths have not been reported in any such religious centre.
