Mumbai, May 13: Top Mumbai Cricket Association officials, including president Sharad Pawar and vice-president Ravi Savant, have spoken to BCCI’s interim president, Sunil Gavaskar, with regard to the league’s governing council’s decision to shift the June 1 final from Mumbai to Bangalore.

According to Nitin Dalal, MCA joint secretary, Gavaskar assured the officials that a reply would be given on Tuesday to a letter from the MCA asking to list out reasons for shifting the final from the Wankhede Stadium to the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

“President Sharad Pawar and vice-president Ravi Savant have had discussions with BCCI and IPL officials and they have been assured that a reply would be given by tomorrow for moving the final without intimation. Depending on what the reply is, the managing committee will decide its future course of action. We still hope that the final will be played at Wankhede.” Nitin Dalal, MCA joint secretary, said after a managing committee meeting.

However, a few top BCCI officials said changing decision will be very tough at the moment.

“There are many issues other than a 10pm deadline for bursting crackers. Music can’t be played after 10 pm also and there is a restriction on the use of loudspeakers. The IPL final needs to be grand finale,” a BCCI official said.

However, MCA officials said that all necessary permissions have been obtained for use of loudspeakers and bursting of crackers for the IPL final.
