Bantwal, Apr 24: The police have seized two abandoned motorbikes and deadly weapons in connection with the murder of Congress leader and Karopadi Gram Panchayat vice president Abdul Jaleel.
On April 20 a gang four miscreants had barged into the office of Karopadi Gram Panchayat in Bantal taluk and brutally murdered 40-year-old Abdul Jaleel. They had come and fled on two motorbikes.
P Harishekaran, Inspector General of Police (Western Range), had claimed that the police had got some clue about the culprits and expressed confidence to nab them within 24 hours. However, till now police have not yet formally arrested anyone. The police had also suspected involvement of an inter-state gang in the murder.
On Monday, a team of police seized two motorbikes and matches, hidden in the roadside bushes a Muguli, near village Karnataka-Kerala border. Along with them shirts and trousers were also found. The motorbikes were first noticed by a passerby, sources said.
However, police have not yet confirmed whether the seized two-wheelers and weapons were used to kill Abdul Jaleel.
