Bengaluru, Dec 23: Janata Dal (Secular) legislators, who have been lobbying for the two vacant Cabinet berths and posts of heads of boards and corporations, were disappointed on Saturday with the party deciding to adopt a wait and watch policy.
Sources in the party said that the top JD(S) leaders, who strongly believe in astrology, are citing ‘Shoonya Masa’ (considered “inauspicious”) as the reason for not filling the two berths in its share. A senior party leader said they would be filled after Sankranti.
JD(S) State president A.H. Vishwanath said that party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy were “watching political developments carefully and will take a suitable decision at an appropriate time.”
B.M. Farookh, MLC, and H.K. Kumaraswamy, MLA, are said to be the front runners for the two posts. However, it is learnt that H.D. Revanna is not inclined to accommodate Mr. Kumaraswamy.
