Mangalore, Jun 2: Two women, who came to a jewellery showroom in Mangalore in guise of customers managed to steal diamond ornaments worth Rs 7.60 lakh.
According to the sources two women entered Tanishq showroom, at Balmatta in Mangalore on Saturday afternoon and requested the salesmen to show them some bangles.
Citing that they did not like any design shown to them,the two kept pestering the salesmen to show more bangles. While the salesmen turned to get new designs, the two managed to flick couple of ornaments into their bags.
The images of the two stealing the bangles have been recorded in the CCTV camera installed in the showroom. It was later found that the two had visited several jewellery showrooms in the city to execute the theft plan on Saturday. While they could not steal any ornament in other places, they had later turned to Tanishq, where they got an opportunity to steal.
In Udupi
Similar incident took place in Udupi as well, where two persons visited a jewellery shop located at Udupi bus stand as customers and stole ornaments worth Rs 1.85 lakh.
A shop belonging to Kannaru Mohandas from Cherkady was targeted by the duo. While the thieves entered the shop as customers Mohandas's son Vikram and son-in-law Prithviraj were in the shop.
The duo took a small silver piece costing about Rs 65. While they waited to get the change for the purchase, they managed to take away a necklace, one bracelet and a pearl ear stud which were displayed near the cash drawer.
Case has been registered.
