Bengaluru, Jan 18: Veteran Kannada film actor, director and producer Kashinath died on Thursday morning at a private hospital, here. He was from Koteshwara of Kundapur, Udupi district.
Kashinath, who became famous for double entendres and gave a different dimension to Kannada film industry, was suffering from cancer.
He was admitted to Shankara Cancer Hospital two days ago where he breathed his last this morning. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Kashinath was a famous director and actor of Kannada film industry, specially comedy films with some double meaning dialogues.
He was also famous as a music director and producer.
He was a god father to many Kannada actors and directors including actor Upendra, directors V. Manohar and Sunil Kumar Desai to name a few.
He directed, produced, and acted in many well known films such as Anubhava, Anantana Avantara, Avale Nanna Hendthi and Hendathi Endhare Haygirabeku.
His recent movie was 12 AM Madyaratri (August 2012) along with his son Abhimanyu.
Kashinath acted and directed in over 43 movies. He also produced more than 10 Kannada films.
