Mumbai, Aug 6: Scriptwriter of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police from Mumbai. He was the prime accused in a murder case, whose complaint was registered in Azamgarh. The scriptwriter, identified as Ram Abhishek Singh, was booked as the co-murderer in the case registered back in 2009.
Singh, along with his uncle Manoj, had killed a rival villager. In the aftermath of the murder, both absconded from their village. The Uttar Pradesh police had put a bounty of Rs 50,000 on Manoj, and Rs 30,000 on Singh.
Manoj was subsequently nabbed from Gorakhpur in 2011. However, Singh continued to evade the law, and had adopted several fake names to dodge the security forces. Some of his aliases were Kera Singh, Rohit Singh, Baljinder Singh.
The Special Task Force (STF) was tipped off that Ram Abhishek Singh, working as the scriptwriter in comedian Kapil Sharma’s weekly show, is the same Kera Singh, whom they have been tracking since the past 7 years. On searching his premises in Andheri West, the STF found an election card from him, issued in the name of Kera Singh.
Apart from working as a scriptwriter with ’The Kapil Sharma Show’, Singh was also working on contract with K-9 productions. In the past he has also appeared as onscreen personality on ‘The Great Indian Family Drama’. His acting skills have also been used in another serial titled as ‘Code Red’. His arrest has been described as a major success by Additional SP of STF Arvind Chaturvedi.
