Karkala, April 24: A day after broad daylight killing in Mangalore, a youth was found brutally murdered on Tuesday morning in Nitte-Kalampadipadavu near here.
The mutilated body of Sandeep Kumar (29), son of Thimmappa Moolya, a resident of Padavu, was spotted around 5:30 am by some local residents at a bus stop adjacent to Kalampadipadavu School.
It is assumed that the murder might have taken place in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The dead body bears the marks of attack by some sharp weapon on its face, chest and neck.
It is learnt that Sandeep had left home around 8:30 pm on Monday, saying that he wanted to attend a 'mehendi programme' at the house of one Lalitha Shedthi. However, he never returned home.
The local residents, who spotted the body lying in the bus stop, in the morning, informed Sandeep's brother.
Police are of the suspicion that a brawl at mehendi programme between Sandeep and few others may have led to this murder. However, they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime.
A case has been registered at Karkala rural police station and investigations are on.
