Kalaburagi, Sept 24: The Rajya Dalit Sangarsha Samiti (DSS) will stage a protest rally on September 25, urging the union and state governments to fulfill its various demands.
Its demands include launching a programme to eradicate untouchability across the country keeping the incident of Pemmanahalli Gollarahatti village in Chitradurga district in mind.
Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, the Samiti convener D G Sagar said the entry of MP A Narayanaswamy into Gollarahatti colony was barred just because he was a Dalit.
The Civilian society has bent down its head after the media highlighted this issue . A fight is inevitable if the Union government fails to take steps to prevent such incidents in the country , the leader warned.
The practice of untouchability has been in the blood of some people . Due to this reason , the practice is still prevalent in society even though it was banned seven decades ago, he said.
Mr Sagar demanded that those who prevented the MP from entering the Gollarahatti colony should be punished. He said a protest march will be taken out from Ambedkar statue located in Jagat circle to the deputy commissioner's office on September 25.
