Bengaluru, Nov 4: Exactly a year after the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) proposed Revised Master Plan - 2031 (RMP-2031) for the Karnataka’s capital, the new state government has decided to junk it and go for another blueprint for all development projects to be taken up in the city in the next 31 years.
With this the RMP-2031 will now be expanded into Vision Bengaluru-2050.
After reviewing the functioning of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) , Bengaluru development minister G Parameshwara on Sunday said: "We plan to set up Vision-2050. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority will prepare the project that envisages linking Hoskote, Doddaballapur, Anekal and Dobspet with the city through the peripheral ring road. With this, new townships will be created and it will reduce pressure on the city."
The BDA, which prepared the RMP, had released a provisional RMP-2031 on November 25, 2017 and set January 23 this year as the deadline for people to send in their response. The agency had received around 13,000 objections/suggestions in two months. A committee, led by BBMP special commissioner (projects) BM Vijay Shankar, had also been set up to vet the feedback received and submit its recommendations to the Urban Development Department.
The city is still going by the old master plan that was drafted for the 2005-2015 period as the government is dragging its feet over notifying the next-gen master plan for the fast-developing city.
