Karnataka govt taking all necessary steps to tackle drought situation: Minister

Belagavi, Jan 29: Karnataka Minister for Revenue R V Deshpande today said that the State government has been taking all necessary and precautionary steps to tackle the drought situation in 156 drought affected taluks.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, after reviewing the steps taken in the District, the Minister appealed to the Union Government to release Rs 1500 crore towards amount spent for man days created under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gaurantee Act (MGNREGA).

Directing the officers to take necessary steps in drought hit areas, Mr Deshpande said that the concerned officers will be held responsible if any complaint received with regard to shortage of drinking water, fodder for animal etc., If need araised water can be supplied through tankers or by digging additional borewells.
