Mangalore, Mar 14: The Students of Journalism of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore took up the initiative of cleaning the Tannir Bavi beach strip on the 12th of March.
The serenity of the beach was polluted by the disturbing sight of trash found at the shore. Trash collected included large amounts of plastic waste, cigarette packets, beer bottles, footwear and food items.
At the end of the clean-up, kilos of trash were collected and were dumped at a public garbage disposal.
There is a need for dustbins around the area for apt disposal of waste. However, personal responsibility towards the gift of nature is a realisation that each one of us needs awaken to.
If more and more people join hands to clean the beach regularly, the beach would be a cleaner place.
