New Delhi, Jul 1: Zaira Wasim left everybody stunned this morning when she announced that she is quitting films because it "consistently interfered with my imaan". However, her decision did not go down well with Raveena Tandon.
The Mohra actress took to her Twitter account to express her views. She tweeted, "Doesn’t matter if two film olds are ungrateful to the industry that have given them all. Just wish they’d exit gracefully and keep their regressive views to themselves ."

Zaira announced on social media that she is bidding adieu to her acting career. "I want to confess that I am not truly happy with this identity i.e. my line of work. For a very long time now it has felt like I have struggled to become someone else. As I had just started to explore and make sense of the things to which I dedicated my time, efforts and emotions and tried to grab hold of a new lifestyle, it was only for me to realise that though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here," she wrote.
"This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan. While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan, my relationship with my religion was threatened," she added.
However, Roy Kapur Films, the production house of her upcoming film, The Sky Is Pink came out in her support. In a stetment released to PTI, the production house said that they were lucky to have a talented actress like Zaira in the film and that they "will be supportive of her in every way".
The statement also read, "Zaira is an exceptional artiste and we are lucky to have had her play Aisha Chaudhury in our film, 'The Sky Is Pink'. She has been a complete professional all through the shoot of the film, which concluded earlier this month. This is a purely personal decision, which she has taken after much thought and we will be supportive of her in every way - now and always."
Directed by Shonali Bose, The Sky Is Pink also features Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar in key roles. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on October 11 this year.
