Hailing from an agrarian family, Dr KVG started the first institution Nehru Memorial College in 1976, which is accredited with A Grade by NAAC is called mother institute of Academy. Today 'Kurunjibag' has more than 35 educational institutes are functioning in the larger mosaic of Kurunji Vidyanagar.
He revolutionized the education by establishing higher educational institutions such as medical colleges in the rural area of Sullia.
Kurunji received numerous awards, both national and international. Florida University, USA has conferred a Honarary Doctorate, Rajiv Gandhi Ekta award, Glory of India award, Parisararatna award, Vikas Jyoti award, Indira Gandhi Sadhbhavana award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy award, Udupi Manukula Bhushana award, International Gold star Millennium award, Mother Excellence award, American Medal of Honour, Nepal Friendship Award, Rastriya Ratan award, and various other awards have been conferred on him.
He is survived by his children Dr K V Chindananda, Dr K V Renukaprasad and Vardhini Jayakumar.
Mortal remains of the demised will be kept for public homage in Sullia Nehru Memorial College Auditorium, from 8 am to 12 pm on Thursday.
The last rituals will be performed in his native place Kurunji of Sullia, after the funeral procession.
