Udupi, December 5: District and Sessions Judge Narendra Kumar Gunaki on Sunday launched the Legal Literacy Campa6ign in Udupi district by flagging off 'Kaanoonu Ratha' at Alevoor.
Speaking on the occasion Gunaki said that legal awareness among the people would help them in exercising their rights.
Udupi District Legal Services Authority in association with Bar Associaiton Udupi, Revenue Department and Department of Panchayathraj had jointly organised the programme.
The vehicle will tour the district and will create awareness by screening videos and power point presentations. Resource persons, including advocates and government officials will suggest solutions for legal problems.
Principal Civil Judge (Senior Division) Savithri Bhat, Senior Advocate A Sripathi Acharya was guest of honour. Alevoor Grama Panchayath President Hareesh Kini presided over the programme.
Udupi Tahasildar Prasanna V delivered a talk on Transfer of Immovable Property and advocate N Krishnaraja Acharya was the resource person on the topic `Division of Property and Right of Inheritance'. Advocate Rajesh P, grama panchayath members Ganesh Devadiga, Jalaja Poojary, Baby Rajesh Sunanda Shankar, Renuka Krishnamurthy were present.
Grama Panchayath member Prashanth Acharya compered the programme, former member Sathish Poojary welcomed the gathering. Panchayath Development Officer Panchakshari Swamy proposed the vote of thanks.
