Lightning strikes claim five lives amidst heavy rain in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, Jun 4: Five people, including two minors, were killed, when a heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning stock them in different places in the district on Monday evening.

Police said that two people were killed in Aland town when lightning struck them while returning home form the agriculture field. The deceased were identified as Abdual Gani (14) and Suresh Digambara (17).

Heavy to moderate rainfall coupled with gusty winds also lashed in Chitapur Taluk and three people were killed while working in agriculture field. The deceased were identified as Prabhu Rathod (32), Sureh Mansingh Power (30) and Yuvaraj Khemu Chavan (24). They belonged to Madabal village. 

The rain brought great relief to the people who were suffering from severe heat condition with mercury touching 45.7 degree celsius.
