Hubballi, Sep 21: The Criminal Investigation Department team probing Prof Kalburgi’s murder is said to have visited Sangli in Maharasthra, in search of leads.
Sources in the police said that following the arrest of Sanatan Sanstha activist Samir Gaikwad in Sangli, a suspect in the CPI leader Govindrao Pansare’s killing in Kolhapur, the CID hopes to find some clues about Kalburgi’s murder also.
The CID officials are in touch with the Maharashtra police and are trying to detect similarities in the killing of Pansare and Kalburgi.
It is also learnt that the Maharashtra and Karnataka police are in search of a key suspect in the 2014 Madgoan bomb blast.
The National Investigation Agency too listed a man by name Rudra Patil, a native of Sangli, as the conspirator and the most wanted suspect in the Madgoan bomb blast case.
He had absconded after the blast, but was staying near Belagavi on the day Prof Kalburgi was killed.
