Mangalore, Jan 13: Having formed a group called 'M Friends' on a mobile platform 'Whatsapp' in January last year, around 50 members provide service to the society by conducting health camps and awareness programmes to benefit the poor among the local communities in Bantwal.
The group organised a free health awareness camp at Vogga in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.
A medical relief fund was created for the purpose of charity work by the group. In five teams, members of the group recently visited all 95 families belonging to the Muslim community in Vogga and conducted a survey few weeks ago. Based on the survey, a report was prepared and a list was made of several families which were below poverty line.
As part of the camp, a medical team visited families in the area and provided necessary treatment where necessary. In the second stage, a complete health check-up was done for the community members in the premises of Juma Masjid, and medicines and treatment were provided to the patients.
On Sunday, a health awareness camp was conducted for all 95 families of the Muslim community in Vogga. Dr Kasim, Dr Zainuddin, Dr Baddruddin, Dr Mubashshir, Dr Ayesha and Umar U H participated in the camp.
A list of volunteers ready to donate blood was prepared for emergency blood donation in Vogga limits if required.
The group was created in January 2013 by Rasheed Vittal from Bantwal taluk.
