Mangaluru, Apr 4: Kannada actress-cum-politician Tara today campaigned the coastal city in favour of Dakshina Kannada sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who is seeking reelection for the third consecutive time on BJP ticket.
Accompanied by the women leaders of the BJP, the 45-year-old actress visited Mangaluru’s bustling fish market and urged the fisherwomen to forget “silly” issues and vote for BJP with the sole aim to give Narendra Modi another term as Prime Minister of India.
She claimed that the Modi government has fulfilled a long standing demand of the fisher community in setting up a separate ministry for them. Thus far, union ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare handled issues related to fishermen, she said, adding carving out a separate ministry will enable the government to give pointed focus on host of issues they face at the local and national level.
Speaking to media persons, she said: “The upcoming elections are all about the nation and not about local issues. The mood of the electorate is clearly geared in this direction. They are ready to repose their faith in the five-year corruption free and nationalistic centred administration that Modi has given.”
In such a scenario, she said, the candidate in this constituency becomes secondary as the country is eager to repose their faith in Modi for a second term and will do so through the local MP.
