Man commits suicide by jumping off sea link

Mumbai, Aug 29: A 33-year-old Kandivali resident jumped off the Bandra-Worli sea link on Thursday evening, said police. The police have identified him as Chitan Shah, an employee at a finance firm in the city. “Shah’s car was north bound on the sea link, when he stopped his white colour Hyundi i-20 car and the leap at around 4.30 pm on Thursday evening,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, public relations officer, Dhanajay Kulkarni.

Police officials have said that Shah’s body was yet to be found, and that they have notified Shah’s wife and are trying to determine the motive behind his move.

“A case of Accidental Death as been registered in the matter,” said an official from the Worli police station.

Last week a businessman suffering from depression had taken his life by jumping off the sea link.

According to the police, Shah’s is the fifth case in the last six months.
