Bengaluru, Sep 2: He first asked for gold, valuables and cash. On finding nothing, he raped the woman he intended to rob.
South east Bengaluru police have formed three special teams to nab a man who allegedly raped a 25-year-old technical analyst after barging into her paying guest accommodation at Parappana Agrahara limits last Friday. The woman, who hails from Tamil Nadu, has been living in the city for close to six months. On Saturday, she filed a police complaint saying an unidentified man raped her at knife-point.
According to the victim, the accused, in his 30s, first asked for valuables, gold and cash. "Since the woman had recently joined a job, she had not purchased gold or any costly ornament. She had no cash on her either," said police, quoting the woman. Later, the culprit allegedly raped the girl at knife-point. She was alone in the PG when the incident took place, police said.
"Unfortunately, there are harldy any CCTV cameras installed in the buildings near PG accommodation. As it was dark, the woman couldn't see the man's face properly. However, we have collected some vital clues about the culprit. One of the teams is concentrating on the technical aspects like mobile numbers present in that particular area," said a senior police officer.
