Mangalore, Dec 24: Sri Kshethra Kolya Ramananda Swamiji coming down heavily on a section of Hindus who have been considering long nurtured beliefs of Hindus as blind beliefs, said that such disasters have happened due to lack of culture in a section of Hindus.

“Such Hindus must be given text of Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Bhagavadgeetha,” he said addressing the 'Dharmadesha' programme organized by the sub-committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishat opposing the proposal of imposing 5 years imprisonment for holding 'Bhoothakola' and 'Daivadarshana' and also condemning the anti-superstition Bill, on Monday at Town Hall in Mangalore.

“India is considered as 'Jagadguru' by the world because of its rich cultural heritage. We see god in every animate and inanimate things. These beliefs are our way of life and today it is a tragedy that these beliefs are being considered as blind beliefs,” he said.

Corrupting young minds

Odiyoor Shri Gurudevananda Swamiji said that the Bill does not allow taking school children on tour to religious places.

“This move is nothing but to create drift among young children. If the Bill is implemented then the beliefs of the people will be affected largely,” he said.

VHP organizing secretary Gopal G said that both Centre and the state are adopting anti-Hindu stand.

“If the centre brings in anti communal violence bill, then nobody will be left in a position to even condemn terror acts,” he said.

“The state government which has brought in 'shaadi bhaagya' for only Muslim women has to understand that there young, unmarried Hindu girls fighting poverty as well, who too need such schemes. The state government is looting the tax paid by the citizens to appease just one section of the society,” he said.

The programme was presided over by Prof M B Puranik. Dharmika Swathantra Rakshana Samiti Convener Kateel Dinesh Pai presented keynote address.

Prior to the formal programme a massive rally was organized from Jyoti circle to Town Hall.

Bengaluru: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government has requested the Karnataka High Court to direct the Mandya district administration and the state government to clear a madrasa operating within the premises of the historic Jama Masjid in Srirangapatna.

The Waqf Board, opposing this move, has claimed the mosque as its property and defended the right to conduct madrasa activities there.

The matter was brought before a division bench headed by Chief Justice N V Anjaria following a public interest litigation filed by a person named Abhishek Gowda from Kabbalu village in Kanakapura taluk. The petition alleged “unauthorised madrasa activities” within the mosque.

Representing the Central government, Additional Solicitor General of India for High Court of Karnataka, K Arvind Kamath argued that the Jama Masjid was designated as a protected monument in 1951, yet unauthorised madrasa operations continue there.

He noted that concerns over potential law and order issues have so far prevented any intervention. Kamath urged the court to direct the Mandya district administration to take action and vacate the madrasa from the mosque.

In defence, lawyers for the state government and the Waqf Board contested this request, stating that the Waqf Board had been recognised as the owner of the property since 1963 and, thus, conducting madrasa activities there is lawful.

After hearing both sides, the bench adjourned the case for further arguments, scheduling the next hearing for November 20.
