In the press statement issued by Ikhlas Hajj and Umrah Tours and Travels, Bunder here on Tuesday, travel operators Mohammed Hassan, Zakir Hussain and Umar Farooq said that the Hajj pilgrims including Mohammed Sharief and Mohammed Haaris were trying to defame the travel agency by making false allegations against the agency.
According to the statement, the private travel agency had been operational since 2005 and had been conducting Hajj and Umrah tours since.
“The facilities we can provide to Hajj pilgrims during the tour are based on the national law in Saudi Arabia. We agree to send pilgrims to Saudi for Hajj and Umrah only on this condition. Moreover, it is not possible to send pilgrims to Saudi directly from Mangalore, due to a restriction of number of pilgrims as decreed by the government of Saudi Arabia. Having received a sum of Rs 3.80 lakhs per pilgrim, we issued them tickets to Mumbai from where they were guided by a guide named Akram to a flight to Jeddah. We provided adequate food and lodging facilities to the pilgrims, but yet they have come forward with false allegations of fraud and cheating against us,” said the statement.
The statement also said that the operators would file a defamation case against the team of Hajj pilgrims who had levelled false allegations on the travel agency.
