Mangaluru cops catch Rashid Malbari’s aide in Puttur

Mangaluru, Oct 13: Sleuths of the anti-rowdy squad of north sub-division of Mangaluru city police have arrested an alleged associate of sharpshooter Rashid Malbari from Kabaka village in Puttur taluk.

Acting on a tip off, the squad headed by police inspector Rafeeq K M carried out the arrest of Muhammad Shameer, 27, a known rowdy sheeter in Panambur police station.

Police had arrested Shameer in a case of extortion and threat in 2013 and produced him before the court.

Shameer missed subsequent court appearances and went underground. He is also accused in five cases registered against him at Panambur police station and a case of dacoity in Surathkal police station.

The operation was carried out under direction of Rajendra D S, assistant commissioner of police, Mangaluru north sub-division.
