Mangaluru, Dec 20: A 17-year-old girl was killed in a fatal road accident at Swamilapadavu under the limits of Bajpe Police Station on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased has been identified Nayana(17), a resident of Kolambe village in Mangaluru Taluk. She was studying II PUC at St Joseph's College, Bajpe.
The tragedy took place on Saturday morning when the girl was riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her male friend, said to be a far relative.
Source said that a speeding lorry rammed into the ill-fated scooter while negotiating a curve at Swamilapadavu. As a result the girl was thrown on road.
Nayana died on the spot due to severe head injuries while the rider escaped unhurt.
A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
