New Delhi, Feb 11: Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L.K. Advani and Narendra Modi on Monday declared that the party would come to power after the Lok Sabha election even as the BJP said the turnout at Mr. Modi's rallies in States that are not traditional strongholds indicate that the mood of the nation was for the party.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Gujarat BJP's new swanky headquarters at Koba close to Gandhinagar, Mr. Modi said the coming general election would be a swansong for the Congress till 2025.
He said this election “will decide India's future and destiny. It beholds asha and armaan.” The Congress will never come back to power till 2025, “take my word for it.”
“It is important that the people of this country declare that enough is enough and say goodbye to the Congress regime. All Congress leaders are glossing over price rise, corruption and good governance, because they have no reply to these issues, they have no guts to fight on real issues,” Mr. Modi said.
Party patriarch Mr. Advani said “everyone already knows the outcome of the 2014 election. The enthusiasm now is the same as that during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's time.”
In New Delhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said “unprecedented crowd” at Mr. Modi's rally in Manipur on Saturday and in other States that are not the party's stronghold, indicated that the mood of the nation was in favour of the party. There was “disillusionment with the Congress. People want an inspirational and decisive leader,” he said in a statement.
