Bengaluru, Sept 29: Police have busted a 6 member Inter-State gang that had cheated about 200 students to the tune of about Rs 25 crore on the promise of getting them Medical seats in foreign Universities and absconded without returning the money collected have been arrested by the police.
Madivala Police said in a release here on Saturday, that the arrested were identified as Suman, Dilip, Yedukondala (both natives of Andhra Pradesh), Ayishbanu, Ranga and Basha.
DCP Dr Boralingegowda said that the gang opened Consultancy Firm in the name of 'American Service Centre' in Andhra Pradesh and its branches at Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Coimbatore.
Targeting at students who want to study Medical Degree Course in Foreign Universities, the gang used to collect Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs from each and the registered students were even taken to Foreign countries under Tourist Visa and used to abscond without remitting fees to the Foreign Universities.
After a cheating case was registered with the Police in Chennai, the gang continued the Consultency Firm but in different name -- 'Medical Teachers Routs Education' and opened branches in different localities of Chennai, Hyderabad and in the City.
