Mangalore, August 22: Father Muller's Medical College (FMMC), Mangalore welcomed a fresh batch of students for its MBBS course of the academic year 2011-2012 on Monday.
100 new students were formally welcomed at the FMMC Decennial Memorial Hall by the staff and students of the institute.
Dr Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services, Father Muller's Hospital advised the students to improve their confidence, empathy and ethics to emerge successful in their perseverance of becoming successful doctors.
“Your outcome is not dependent on how many books you read, but how many patients you visit and study”, he said observing the fame FMMC has achieved in just a short span after initiating the MBBS course.
He also observed that the college met all the necessities of Medical Council of India (MCI) with more staff to achieve better relation with students and to provide them with quality education.
Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues in his presidential address encouraged the students to continue their hopes and desires and work hard to fulfill their aspirations.
“When you go out of college you should be worthy of the title called 'Doctor'”, he said.
The program also had an interaction session where the staff interacted with the students and their parents.
Fr Dennis D'Sa, Administrator, FMMC, Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, FMMC Hospital, Dr J P Alva, Dean of Medical Studies, Fr Patrick Rodrigues, President, FMMC were present.
