Mangalore, August 10: Timely response from police appeared to have saved a couple from being attacked by a Hindu vigilante group on Thursday.
A group of Hindu rightwing activists saw a Muslim boy speaking to a Hindu girl at the service bus-stand in Mangalore on Thursday afternoon. The couple boarded a private bus bound to Kasaragod. A few of the activists reportedly boarded the bus while others followed it in some vehicles. The activists had planned to get the couple off the bus before Talapady, a village on Karnataka-Kerala border.
Two journalists, who got the information about the activists' move, passed on the information to the police. Police teams were deployed all along the route.
Once the bus entered Kerala and the activists abandoned their plan and returned, said an eye-witness.
