Mangalore, February 5: Muslim Central Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, president and former chairman of Karnataka Minorities Commission Al-Haj K.S. Mohammed Masood and eight others have been booked for allegedly conspiring to set off riots.

The Bunder police have registered cases under sections 153 (a), and 505 (2) of the IPC against them based on the complaint by Vishwa Hindu Parishat vice president Jagadish Shenava.

Two days after Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat delivered a speech at the Hindu Samajotsava in Uppinangady, Mr. Masood had called a press meet to condemn the 'provocative speech' of the RSS leader. Mr. Masood has been booked for presenting a distorted version of Mr. Bhat's speech and trying to disturb peace.

Mr. Shenava had filed a complaint at the Bunder police station on 25th January, but the police had refused to book a case saying there was no basis for the complaint. However, 10 days after the complaint was filed, Bunder police booked a case against Masood and others.
