Panaji, Nov 28: Dismissing the growing concerns of moral policing in cinema, veteran film director and producer Subhash Ghai said that, what is deemed as moral policing is just a demand of urgent change in the society by the younger generation, and the elders being more patient.
"Moral policing is just a demand by the younger generation to change things. The elders are more patient and thus, that is regarded as moral policing. Things change in their own time," Ghai said, adding that for that to happen, the country has laws which should be followed for everyone to stay united and happy.
While talking about the trends in cinema over the years, the director said that the current rise in the number of biopics being made is due to the absence of an inspiring figure in the current generation.
"Current heroes are confused about what values they want to propagate on the screen that is why they are looking towards biopics - to showcase the success of others and keep the population inspired," he said, adding that the future holds the return of Sanskrit coming back in fashion and India again becoming a knowledge state.
"This trend will also be surpassed, and will be followed by the coming back of our history and traditional values. We will again become Vidwaan Bharat," he said.
