Nagaraj Shetty regrets for 'few of his past steps'

Mangalore, September 22: Former chairman of the Coastal Development Authority B Nagaraj Shetty, who is all set to join Janata Dal (Secular) on Friday said that he deeply regretted for a few of his past steps.

Addressing a media conference in the city, the former Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minster, who was one of the prominent public faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka a few years ago, said that saffron party was suffering from internal squabbles.

Mr Shetty, who had declared Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as his 'role model' and 'source of his inspiration', taking a U-turn said that some people have misinterpreted 'Hindutva'.

“I will convince them the real meaning of 'Hindutva' soon”, he said confirming that he will formally join JD(S) along with his supporters at a party programme in the city on September 24.

Mr Shetty said that his intention behind joining JD(S) was the development of Dakshina Kannada district and social service.

“JD(S) will be the last party in my political career. I won't change party in future”, he said adding that he doesn't demand any party post in next one year.

Businessman Ranjit Malli, who is also expected to join JD(S) with Mr Shetty was also present in the press meet.
