Madikeri, Sept 24: Karnataka Housing and District Incharge Minister V Somanna said that houses constructed for the victims of last year's calamity would be handed over to them by December.
Speaking to the media after a two-day visit to the district, he said houses were constructed at Madenaru, Karnageri, Jumbur villages where the more then 300 houses collapsed.
In all 633 houses constructed at various stages , he further said.
Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa government had already released Rs 100 crores for flood relief and rehabilitation works in the district, he revealed.
The minister also revealed that the government continues to pay Rs 10,000 for the house rent to the affected people.
Mr Somanna also asked the officials speed up the works related to conducting Cauvery Thirthdobha at birth place of tala Cauvery as most of the roads were damaged and several times the bhagamandala was submerged during the recent rains.
Heavy rains have battered parts of Karnataka in August, 2018, causing severe flooding and landslides.
