Mangaluru, Aug 14: The twin coastal district of Dakshina Kannada and Udup have recorded a whopping 629 covid-19 positive cases in last 24 hours. While Udupi reported 322 cases DK reported 307 cases.
While the total number of positive cases in DK mounted to 8,378, it reached 7,490 in Udupi. Both the districts reported 6 deaths each.
Among the 307 fresh cases reported in DK, as many as 130 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), 9 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 44 persons contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 124 others.
As many as 197 among the 307 are from Mangaluru, 57 from Bantwal, 14 from Puttur, 14 from Belthangady, 17 from Sullia and 8 from other districts.
Among 322 new patients in Udupi, 186 people are from Udupi taluk, 95 from Kundapura, and 36 from Karkala. The remaining five from other districts.
