Mangaluru, Nov 6: The executive committee meet of Karnataka BJP in Manglauru was confined to its internal politics as it failed to discuss major issues people of the state, said Congress leader and Mangaluru city MLA U T Khader.

Speaking to media persons, said that the state executive committee of a ruling party should guide the government in the right direction by giving suggestions to solve the problems of the people. “They should have discussed problems of the people, government policies, schemes and pro-people programmes,” he said.

He said that BJP is playing with the people’s sentiments as it has no clear political strategy in hand. “The meet in Manglauru was an attempt to divert people’s attention. People will teach a lesson to BJP in the upcoming gram panchayat elections. People of the state are facing plenty of problems due to Covid-19 pandemic. People are not able to go to hospitals too. Meanwhile, the government has stopped accepting applications for ration cards through the online mechanism, which was functioning very smoothly. The district is facing a shortage of sand. People of the coastal districts have been demanding the central government for the inclusion of Tulu into the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution. However, the BJP meet has not deliberated on such prominent issues,” Khader averred.

The BJP held a series of protests opposing Yettinahole (drinking water) project when they were in the opposition, Khader said and questioned, “Why the BJP meet and did not adopt a resolution against Yettinahole project? Similarly, they have been demanding renaming of Mangaluru airport after Koti-Chennaya and Rani Abbakka’s name for New Mangaluru Port, but the meet did not discuss those issues.”
