Mangaluru, Nov 2: Expressing shock over RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s controversial remarks against Ullal, former minister and Congress leader U T Khader has called the coastal town a symbol of communal harmony and patriotism.
Earlier today, Mr Bhat had expressed concern over presence of Muslim majority areas in India and called Ullal a Pakistan. “Pakistan and Bangladesh came into existence because of increase in Muslim population. Now we can find Pakistans here and there. Ullal town has already become a Pakistan,” Mr Bhat had said.
Incidentally, Ullal town falls under Mangaluru City Assembly Constituency, which is being represented by MLA Khader.
Responding to the RSS leader’s remarks, Mr Khader said: “This is not the first time Mr Bhat chanting Pakistan mantra. If he really sees Pakistan in Ulall, then his guru must be Muhammad Ali Jinnah.” He added that “Pakistan is an asset for some venomous snakes.”
“I can see India in each and every particle of Ullal. Hindus, Muslims and Christians had collectively fought in the army of Ullal’s queen Abbakka against Portuguese invaders. The religious centres of the time of Abbakka exist even today and they are respected by people of all faiths,” he said.
Mr Khader also called upon the people to strengthen communal harmony in Ullal and defeat communal forces and hate mongers.
