Mangaluru, Jan 22: In a major crackdown on the drugs racket, police have arrested seven persons in two separate cases and have seized 44 kg ganja from them.
The accused were reportedly trafficking ganja from Bidar and Telangana. The operation was jointly conducted by the CCB cops following a tip-off and raids were conducted in Ullal and Konaje area.
The raids were conducted after receiving credible information on huge quantity of ganja being transported to Mangaluru city in two cars. The cars and mobile, phones were also seized.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, speaking to newsmen here on Friday, said that those arrested have been identified as -- Abdul Azeez (40) of Taudugoli, Moidin Hafees alias Abi (24), Vittal Chavan (35) of Sangareddy village in Telangana, Sanjukumar (34) of Bidar and Kallappa (40).
In another case, Ullal Police have arrested two men who were trafficking ganja in a scooter. Those arrested are Mohammad Hafeez (23) of Naringana and Sandeep (34) of Gurupur.
