Mangaluru, Dec 22: All those who flew into Mangaluru from the United Kingdom, Denmark and the Netherlands since December 7 this year will have to undergo covid tests again after a new strain of covid-19 with high transmissibility was reported in the UK.

Dakshina Kannada district administration has noted that 56 passengers from the UK had arrived into the district through Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru since December 7.

Fortunately, all the 56 passengers had covid-19 negative certificates, said District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Ramachandra Bayari.

However, he added, all of them will be once again tested for covid-19 as part of precautionary measures.

He said that a special team of three officers has been formed to monitor the testing process of those who have flew into the district from abroad in recent days.

Besides, all the international passengers landing at Mangaluru International Airport will have to undergo RT-PCR Covid tests on arrival.
