Mangaluru, Oct 10: A group of people belonging to Bajrang Dal activists today intercepted a milk van on charge of illegally transporting beef in the city. The police later seized the vehicle and took one person into custody.
The milk van, which was coming from the direction of Pumpwell, did not stop when the Bajrang Dal members signaled the driver to stop. Then the group chased the van and intercepted it near the Wenlock Hospital, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, the sleuths of Mangaluru North Police Station reached the spot and seized the vehicle. There were reportedly three people on board the vehicle. Police took one person into custody, while the other two escaped.
The Bajrang Dal claimed that beef was being transported from Hassan to Kudroli in Mangaluru. Police are investigating the matter.
