Mangaluru, Sept 30: A fire broke out at a bank in the busy Hampankatta area in the city this morning but there was no report of any injury.
The incident was reported at the city’s main branch of Bank of Baroda at around 5 am.
It is learnt that the fire was caused due to a short circuit and it resulted in huge losses. Five air-conditioners, a computer and other equipment were burnt down in the fire, sources said.
It took a couple of hours for fire tenders to reach the spot and put off the fire.
The bank officials have informed that even though the branch is temporarily shut due to the fire mishap, service will be continued at the founders’ branch at Jyothi circle and Falnir branch.
