Mangaluru, Oct 22: A teenager was killed and two others suffered critical injuries after a motorbike ran amok on NH 66 near Kotekar Sankoli on the outskirts of the city today.
According to police the speeding bike hit a pedestrian, before ramming into a road divider and electric pole. A 17-year-old youth who was riding pillion on the bike died on the spot while the bike rider and the pedestrian sustained critical injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Ashwith who was a PU student. He was the son of Manjeshwar Hosangadi Angadipadavu based Ananta Gas Agency proprietor Gopala and Shobha couple. Another son Ashwin (21), who has been critically injured in the incident has been admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, the pedestrian who also hit is yet to be identified.
The bike which was speeding from Manjeshwar towards Mangaluru initially hit the pedestrian who was crossing the national highway. The bike rider, who lost control after the hit, rammed the bike into the divider and the electric transformer. Naguri traffic police personnel then visited the spot and conducted inspection.
The injured have been admitted to Thokkottu private hospital.
