Mangaluru, Sept 30: Several activists of Social Democratic Party of India were taken into custody by police after they staged a protest in the city today against the acquittal of all accused in Babri Masjid demolition case.
The list of 32 accused in the case who was acquitted by A CBI special court included senior BJP leaders such as Uma Bharti, LK Advani, and Murli Manohar Joshi, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, along with Vinay Katiyar and Sadhvi Rithambara among others.
The protesters said that all those who were acquitted by the court were masterminds of Babri Masjid demolition.
Questioning the controversial verdict the SDPI activists gathered in front of the office of deputy commissioner in Manglauru and started raising slogans. The police managed to abort the protest and take the protesters into custody.
SDPI state secretary Ashraf Machar and Corporator Muneeb Bengare were among those who were taken into custody by the police.
