Bengaluru, Nov 10: The operation Kamala has finally yielded result. Disqualified MLA N Munirathna has registered a massive victory in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly bypoll.

Munirathna who jumped from Congress to BJP in ‘Operation Kamala’ has won by a huge margin of 57,936 votes.

The elections for the Rajarajeshwari Nagar seat was held on November 3 as it fell vacant after the disqualification of Congress MLA Munirathna under the anti-defection law.

"I want to tell voters, who are gods, with folded hands that I'll do justice to the constituency. In my first election (2013), my lead was 17,000. Second time (2018), it was 26,000 lead. This time, it is about 57,000. I won't ever be able to repay this debt to voters. I also want to tell my opponent (Kusuma Hanumantharayappa of Congress), speak the truth. You cried saying I used a derogatory word. Never in my life have I used the word 'munde' to any woman," said Munirathna.

In the last assembly elections BJP’s Tulasi Muniraju Gowda had lost against Munirathna, who was then a Congress candidate.

While rebel Congress MLAs joined BJP after resigning their MLAs seat which led to the formation of BJP government in the state, the saffron party had promised to field them from party ticket in the bypolls.

25th round result
Munirathna (BJP)--- 1,25,734 votes
Kusuma (INC) --- 67,798 votes
Krishnamurthy (JDS) ---- 10,251 votes
NOTA: 2,494 votes
BJP's Munirathna leading by 57,936 votes

Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has warned that around 1,500 citizens have lost their eyesight due to the war and another 4,000 are at risk of blindness because of severe shortages of medications and medical equipment.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in a report on Sunday said that the eye care services in Gaza have been facing a catastrophic collapse because of the genocidal war.

“The health sector is witnessing a critical shortage of consumables and medical equipment for eye surgeries, which is leading to an almost total collapse of surgical services, particularly for retinal diseases and diabetic retinopathy with internal bleeding,” said Dr. Abdelsalam Sabah, director of Gaza’s Eye Hospital.

“The Eye Hospital currently has only 3 worn-out surgical scissors in use, which greatly increases risks to patients’ lives and prevents effective treatment,” he added.

The majority of eye injuries are caused by shrapnel from ordnance explosions and need medical materials such as Healon and fine sutures, which are almost impossible to find in the Strip due to the blockade.

Unless immediate and urgent intervention is made by relevant bodies and international organizations, the Eye Hospital will be unable to provide any surgical services in the near future.

The siege has forced hospitals and medical centers in Gaza to ration medications such as painkillers, provide less effective treatment, or turn patients away.

Hospitals and medical centers have run out of surgical supplies such as anesthetics, pediatric antibiotics, and medicines for chronic conditions.

Since March 18, when the Israeli regime broke its ceasefire agreement with Hamas, it has killed around 1,900 Palestinians and wounded several thousand more, most of whom are children and women.

Amid the ongoing border tension with Pakistan, the Punjab Police in India arrested two individuals on espionage charges. They allegedly leaked sensitive information and photographs of Army cantonment areas and Air Bases in Amritsar, said the police on Sunday.

The two persons were identified as Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih. They were arrested in a significant counter-espionage operation by the Amritsar Rural Police.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav wrote on X, "Malerkotla Police apprehends two individuals for their alleged involvement in espionage activities linked to a Pakistani official posted at the High Commission, New Delhi.

"Acting on credible intelligence, one suspect was arrested for leaking sensitive information regarding Indian Army movements to a Pakistan-based handler. Based on disclosures made during interrogation, a second conduit was also identified and taken into custody.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused had been receiving payments through online transactions in exchange for classified information. They were in frequent contact with the handler and were involved in channeling funds to other local operatives as per his instructions. Two mobile phones have been recovered, and an FIR has been registered."

The police said further investigation will be undertaken as per established protocol, with a focus on tracing the financial trail and identifying additional operatives and linkages within the network.
