Bengaluru, Nov 10: The operation Kamala has finally yielded result. Disqualified MLA N Munirathna has registered a massive victory in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly bypoll.
Munirathna who jumped from Congress to BJP in ‘Operation Kamala’ has won by a huge margin of 57,936 votes.
The elections for the Rajarajeshwari Nagar seat was held on November 3 as it fell vacant after the disqualification of Congress MLA Munirathna under the anti-defection law.
"I want to tell voters, who are gods, with folded hands that I'll do justice to the constituency. In my first election (2013), my lead was 17,000. Second time (2018), it was 26,000 lead. This time, it is about 57,000. I won't ever be able to repay this debt to voters. I also want to tell my opponent (Kusuma Hanumantharayappa of Congress), speak the truth. You cried saying I used a derogatory word. Never in my life have I used the word 'munde' to any woman," said Munirathna.
In the last assembly elections BJP’s Tulasi Muniraju Gowda had lost against Munirathna, who was then a Congress candidate.
While rebel Congress MLAs joined BJP after resigning their MLAs seat which led to the formation of BJP government in the state, the saffron party had promised to field them from party ticket in the bypolls.
