Kasaragod, February 2: As many as seven students of the LBS engineering college sustained injuries in a clash between activists of the MSF and SFI in the college and outside here.
SFI activists Irshad, 19, of Koyilandy, Abdul Rahman,19 and Rahul Das,18, of Vatakara were admitted to the E K Nayanar hospital in Chengala while MSF activists Junaid, 20, of Chattamchal, Riyas , 20, were rushed to a private hospital in Mangalore.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when a group of SFI students dragged Junaid out of the electronics lab of the college and assaulted him. Later Riyas and Rishwan were assaulted by SFI activists on their way back home.
SFI activist Shijil Shaji, 20, a native of Kolilandy was attacked outside the college in front of a shop in Povval while he was returning to the hostel. He was attacked with weapons by MSF activists to avenge the assault of three MSF activists in the college.
Another SFI activist Vinil, 20, was attacked by a five member gang who came in motor bikes near Povval while he was returning home after visiting the injured SFI activists at the hospital.
The police have registered two cases following the clashes.
